So what have I been doing for my dream? Practically? Nothing. I haven’t written any fiction or anything yet. Becoming a writer without practising writing is that possible? I guess many people would like to say ‘Dream on!’ But I believe it’s more important to have intense experiences than to spend time focusing on writing. Furthermore, it’s a good time to learn about the world and broaden my horizons at my young age.
So I had travelled around Europe for forty days by myself. I realised that indeed there was a really big world outside Korea! I became so sensitised by the experience that I kept a diary of the trip . It might be helpful when I publish travel journals later. Before X, I had been working in a natural cosmetics company, so I was able to learn about environmentally-friendly cosmetics, harmful effects of chemicals, organic industries, fair-trading and so on. I am happy to get to know how to live a sustainable life on the earth with the others.
When I felt a lack of experience, I decided to go to another country. And now, I’m in Australia. Australia is a great place in that it’s a melting pot of nationalities. Of course, there might be ups and downs while I am living in Australia, far from my country. But there’s a simple principle. Make more mistakes, then you learn more. This whole experience could eventually make me wiser and more creative.
I am still keeping my dream. I want to write a sincere essay or a novel in my latter life. From now on I will try to make my life more beautiful and passionate for my writing further down the track. I am sure my journey- my life is going on a right track in terms of following my dream. And who cares if I don't become a writer? Keeping a dream in your mind would lead you to a satisfactory life at the end.
Let’s just dream on.
