Alanis Morissette, who is a singer-songwriter, was born in Ottawa,Ontario, Canada. She’s 35 years old. She started in her musical career in 1987. She started to play the piano when she was 6 years old and she can now also play the guitar, flute, and harmonica. When she was 9 years old she started to write songs.
She moved to the USA when she was 19 years old and she signed with Maverick Records. In 1996 she released the album “Jagged Little Pill”, which won four categories of the Grammy awards. Her first single was “You Oughta Know”.
She became the first famous female singer in pop-rock music and affected famous singers, such as Michelle Branch and Avril Lavinge.
In 1997, she released her live album “Jagged Little Pill, Live” and won the Grammy award for Best Long Form Music Video. Unfortunately, she had mental and physical problems because her lifestyle had changed after she suddenly became popular.
However, a trip to India changed her mind, and she started her songwriting activities again, and she wrote a song ”Uninvited” which is the theme song of the movie “City of Angel”.
In December of 2001, she was given the “Global Tolerance Award”, which shows her contribution to world peace.
Nowadays, she also has her career as an actress as well as a singer.
